It's simple to play Spectrum games on your PC. Thanks to dedicated fans of the speccy, there are a number of programs available that actually replicate how an original spectrum would run. Some of them even allow you to pug a tape recorder into your sound card and play your old tapes! However, it's much easier to download them off the Internet where they have already been converted into a format that can be stored as data on your hard drive. The emulators shown below will only run on DOS or Windows based PC. However, emulators are available for most computers such as the Amiga, Atari ST and Apple Macintosh. Just go to your favourite search engine and type ZX Spectrum emulator and the name of your computer. My favourite emulator for the PC is the X128 emulator, but some people prefer the Z80 emulator. I've included them both.
Z80 ZX Spectrum Emulator (244KB)
X128 ZX Spectrum Emulator (287KB)
Once you have downloaded the emulator, you will need to download some games as well. Virtually every speccy game ever published is available on the Internet, you just have to search for them.
